Josh Staumont (’14) and Collin Snider (’16) have quickly become two important arms in the Kansas City Royals’ bullpen. In his fourth big league season, Staumont is now a primary option in the late innings for the Royals, while Snider has emerged as an impactful middle reliever in his first big league season. But before becoming important pieces of a big league roster, both relievers spent time on the Cape with YD.
With the 2021 Cape Cod League regular season recently concluding, the YD Red Sox fell just short of the playoffs with a record of 16-14-7. Despite not making the playoffs, there were many bright spots on both sides of the ball this year for the Red Sox. Offensively, two players that showcased their incredible skill set throughout the season were Brooks Lee and Dominic Keegan.
Posey spent two summers on the Cape, both with Y-D, in 2006 and 2007. In each season, he helped lead the Red Sox to a combined 59-28-1 record and back-to-back Cape Cod championships. He earned All-Star honors both seasons, first as a shortstop and second as a catcher. He also spent time on the mound, closing out games both summers.
