10-Time Cape Cod Baseball League Champions

Y-D All-Star Game rundown

By Luke West Poley

Saturday night saw the best players from the 2023 Cape Cod Baseball League season meet at Whitehouse Field in Harwich for the annual Cape League All-Star Game.

Y-D was well represented, with two all-star starters and three reserves that saw action in the game, as well as Hunter Hines placing second in the Home Run Hitting Contest that kicked off the day’s festivities.

Highlights from Y-D players during the 7-1 West division win included RJ Austin throwing out a runner at second from left field, Enzo Apodaca reaching base in his lone plate appearance, and Landon Beidelschies tossing two-thirds of an inning in relief.

“[It was] an awesome experience.” Beidelschies said. “I got to meet a lot of really cool people and a lot of great players. Overall it was just a really fun day.”

With the All-Star Game concluding, Y-D now finds themselves in a fierce divisional race, currently sitting atop the East with 10 regular season games remaining. The Red Sox are looking to carry the momentum from a decisive win against Brewster prior to the All-Star break.

“We’re just trying to stay hot,” Beidelschies said.

The Red Sox will return to action against their top competitor in the East division, the Orleans Firebirds, for a rescheduled game on Sunday. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 pm at Eldredge Park in Orleans.
