By Jim Russo

Tonight, the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox will attempt to rebound from yesterday’s one-run loss to Hyannis as they take on the Chatham Anglers at Veterans Field.

Chatham is coming off a loss of its own to Bourne by a 7-5 score. Y-D is 6-4 in their last 10 games and currently sits atop the East Division with a 15-10-1 record and 31 points. Chatham sits last in the entire Cape, with a 6-15-1 record and 13 points. They are 2-8 in their last 10 games.

Tonight’s probable starting pitchers are Finnegan Wall for Y-D and Benjamin Peterson for Chatham. Wall is 0-1 with a 3.70 ERA in four games with 17 innings pitched. He has struck out 21 and walked 10.

Peterson is 1-0 with an 8.10 ERA in 4 games and 10 innings pitched. He has struck out 6, and walked 5.

In an announcement made yesterday by the Chatham Athletic Association, Assistant Coach Marty Lees has been named acting manager of the Anglers for the rest of this season.  He replaces Tom Holliday, who resigned due to personal health reasons.

In other action tonight Harwich hosts Orleans. Harwich is 3-7 in their last 10 games while Orleans has closed the gap between the two teams in the East to four points based on their 5-5 record in their last 10 games. Bourne, which has tied Y-D with 31 points, hosts Falmouth.

Overall, league frontrunner Cotuit, riding a 5-game winning streak, is home against Wareham, while Hyannis at Brewster rounds out the schedule. The first pitch is slated for 7:00 pm.
