An enthusiastic and committed individual, Tom is Associate Head Baseball Coach at Moorpark Community College in Moorpark, California. Last summer he was Head Coach for the Medicine Hat Mavericks in Alberta, Canada. He comes to the Y-D Red Sox with 10 years of experience in professional baseball as a pitcher. Tom was selected in the 11th round of the amateur draft by the Houston Astros and went on to pitch for 3 years in the San Francisco Giants organization. While playing professional baseball Tom completed his Master’s degree in Organizational Leadership from Woodbury University in Los Angeles, California, and recently completed a second Master’s degree in Kinesiology and Sports Management from the University of South Dakota.
Prior to his professional career, he received his bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from Whittier College, where he was an All American and three-year letterman, Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year, and Whittier College Male Athlete of the Year.
Within the last 3 years at Moorpark Community College, Tom played an integral part in helping 16 players move on to 4-year college baseball programs, one professional contract, and the teams 2018 league championship.
Tom resides in Burbank, California while pursuing his doctorate in Higher Education Leadership and Innovation. His dissertation, A Comparative Evaluation of Team Culture and Cohesionin College Baseball, focuses on group dynamics, team-building in athletics, and athlete satisfaction.
