Red Sox Win In A Thriller; Advance To Second Round

In what was perhaps the most exciting game of the year, the Red Sox came away with an 11-7 victory over the Orleans Firebirds. Y-D has now advanced to the second round of the Eastern Division Playoffs where they will take on the Harwich Mariners.

Gutsy Performance by Pitching Staff Gives Y-D 1-0 Advantage

The No. 3 Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox’s nail-biter of a victory over the No. 2 Orleans Firebirds last night featured gutsy performances by all three Y-D pitchers – Eric Tolman, Carlos Lomeli, and Oscar Carvajal – a 2-4 performance at the plate by Tate Samuelson, a two-run home run off the bat of Andrew Eyster, and a revitalized Red Sox team that looks ready to sweep the Firebirds tonight to advance to the second round of the playoffs.

Bats Silenced in Loss to Last-Place Hyannis

The East Division playoff bracket became a little more interesting Tuesday night as the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox lost 1-0 to the West Division’s last-place team, the Hyannis Harbor Hawks. A Y-D loss, two Orleans Firebirds wins, and two Chatham Anglers losses shuffled the standings around ? Orleans and Chatham are now tied for first place with 48 points, while Y-D trails by one point.

Bats Go Quiet in Y-D’s 7-2 Loss to Orleans

The Red Sox lost 7-2 on Monday night against their probable first round playoff matchup, the Orleans Firebirds. While the loss is of course not ideal, it most likely won’t have any effect on playoff seeding.

Offense Stays Hot, Jett Gets First Win Against Cotuit

One night after piling on 19 hits and 12 RBIs in a 13-7 win against the Harwich Mariners, the Red Sox offense stayed hot in a 9-1 win against the Cotuit Kettleers, as six different players had a multi-hit game and all 11 players to have had a plate appearance reached base at least once. Jack Jett (Hofstra) pitched 3.2 scoreless innings to get the win in his first appearance for Y-D.
